My favorite version of these classic cookies

    Preheat oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. 2
    In a large mixing bowl, beat shortening, butter, the 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs.
  3. 3
    In another bowl, stir together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. 4
    Blend dry ingredients into creamed shortening mixture.
  5. 5
    Combine 2 Tbsp sugar and cinnamon in small bowl.
  6. 6
    Roll cookie dough into balls and coat in cinnamon mixture.
  7. 7
    Place balls two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten with hand or underside of a glass.

    Bake for 8-10 minutes .

    Beware! These can be addicting. I've tried many recipes for Snickerdoodles and these are by far the best. They are soft and the flavor is out of this world. I doubled the recipe and used butter-flavored Crisco. My family gobbled them up.

    I love these. I added some turbinado sugar to the cinnamon instead of white and it gave the cookie an extra crunch and that brown sugar natural flavor. Thanks!
