about me

I live in a small coastal town in the UK,with my husband and two beautiful children.I trained as a chef, and spent over 15 years working in hotels ,(mainly as a pastry chef)as well as starting up and running the kitchen of what was to become a thriving gastro-pub.I am now a stay at home mum to my two little monkeys, and love nothing more than just messing about in the kitchen, especially with them, and creating delicious things for everyone to enjoy.I am totally addicted to Zaar, and if I could, would spend all day (and probably half of the night) browsing on here.I just love reading about all of you guys and your recipes, and I thank those of you whose recipes I have found and loved;my waistline will never be the same again!!PhotobucketPhotobucket

Favorite Foods:

I love to eat full stop...its not just about filling your tummy its the whole experience-and as my father was a chef and my mother an exceptional cook,( she makes the BEST Chinese ribs, and her Rendang is legendary, but alas, the recipes will never appear on Zaar!) food is a huge part of my life!!As far as I am concerned there are just not enough mealtimes in this life to eat all of the dishes that I want to try,as well as eat some, more than once!!We love Asian food (my mother is Chinese!),but we eat everything from Italian to Mexican,British to American and anything and everything inbetween.
I prefer to cook from scratch, using fresh produce ( local if possible!),and very rarely use any processed food.
I would love to write a cookery book,or test recipes for them, and my friends keep encouraging me to do so,but I think thats so that I keep inviting them over to eat!!
I have tried loads of recipes from Zaar, and try to rate them fairly. If I can't give three stars or above I tend not to rate it-I would hate to put anyone off trying it or upset whoever listed it.
Five stars=Great,we really enjoyed it,don't change a thing.
Four stars=Still really enjoyed it,but may tweak it to suit us a little more.
Three stars=It was ok,might tweak it,but wouldn't be in a rush to make it again.
Two stars=Mmm..not very keen at all. Will not cook again.
Meanwhile I just keep cooking and eating!!
